The Nutrition Services Manager has the primary responsibility for overseeing the delivery of nutrition services and competence of Nephrology Dietitians employed by Satellite Healthcare. This role collaborates with the Director of Nutrition Services to establish and enforce Satellite Healthcare’s standards of nutrition practice. The Nutrition Services Manager serves as a mentor and indirect supervisor to Lead Nephrology Dietitians and collaborates with the VP, territory directors, and clinical managers within the assigned region to facilitate clinical operations involving nutrition services.
Coordinates, oversees, and/or delivers training for new and existing dietitians; communicates regularly with Lead Nephrology Dietitians, clinical management, and medical directors, as appropriate; meets regularly with ND trainees to assess progress and modifies training plans as needed
In collaboration with the nutrition leadership team, develops, revises, and updates training materials; partners with Clinical Education to align methods, formats, and tools to Satellite’s standard practices
Oversees dietitian’s clinical responsibilities, including Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance, and adherence to protocols
Collaborates with clinical management on employee matters including selection, onboarding and orientation of new dietitians; provides guidance on goal setting and professional development and contributes feedback on employee performance
Collaborates with Director of Nutrition Services to identify, select, train, and mentor Lead Nephrology Dietitians; supports Lead Nephrology Dietitians in developing and facilitating a network for dietitian support, communication, and mentoring
Provides oversight of clinical competency for dietitians; collaborates with Director of Nutrition Services to develop, administer, evaluate, and revise annual written competency tests; conducts observational evaluation of clinical skill competencies
Assists Quality department to develop and implement effective tools for Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities at the center level; provides support and assistance to dietitians with evaluation of outcomes and clinical performance measures that may be influenced by nutrition, adequacy, or other areas as appropriate
Participates in the development and implementation of clinical initiatives in collaboration with Medical Clinical Affairs
Collaborates with clinical management to determine staffing levels; paying attention to unique needs of each center; arranges for dietitian coverage for vacations, leaves, and vacancies
Responsible for driving the Satellite Healthcare culture through values and customer service standards
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers
Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication
Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner
Minimum Education & Experience:
Baccalaureate or advanced degree in food and nutrition or dietetics
Registered Dietitian, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Commission on Dietetic Registration
Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR)
Five (5) years of experience in nephrology nutrition
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to manage training, and projects; ability to manage nutrition services personnel preferred
Leadership in SHC and the extended nephrology community preferred
Ability to communicate information to appropriate team members and documents in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
Develops and maintains expertise in all areas of nephrology nutrition
Expertise in specific areas of nephrology nutrition, such as adequacy of dialysis, malnutrition, protein energy wasting, bone and mineral disorder, inflammation, anemia, diabetes, or other nephrology-related co-morbid conditions
