This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more Major Duties This position is assigned to the Mental Health Clinical Center, VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS). The position at this time is based at the Baltimore campus of VAMHCS, but may need to provide psychological services at other VAMHCS sites. This psychologist position will support both the Primary Care-Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Program and the Health Psychology Program. The PCMHI Program utilizes a Co-located, Collaborative Care (CCC) model, and this psychologist position is co-located within the Comprehensive Women's Health (CWH) clinic. The CCC behavioral health provider (psychologist) functions as part of multidisciplinary primary care teams, and delivers brief, consultation-based services to Veterans, CWH providers, and allied Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) members. The Health Psychology Program serves a variety of stakeholders, both within the Mental Health Clinical Center and from other clinical centers within VAMHCS. The incumbent is skilled in identifying in identifying a wide range of patient care issues that may overlap between mental health and medical conditions, e.g., chronic pain, addictive disorders including prescribed medications, infectious diseases (i.e., AIDS/HIV), Traumatic Brain Injury (screening), diabetes, and other serious medical illnesses, along with the spectrum of psychological/psychiatric disorders more commonly seen in Primary Care, e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD, dementia (screening), etc. The incumbent serves as a consultant to others needing guidance and direction in the management of complex, difficult patient care cases, including but not limited to smoking cessation and other tobacco/nicotine addiction related disorders and their treatment, chronic pain, infectious diseases, chronic and acute medical illnesses including, among others, ventilator dependent patients, behavioral correlates of medical and surgical conditions, health maintenance and disease prevention, etc. General duties include, but are not limited to, a full range of psychodiagnostic and clinical health psychologist services including assessment and using the most appropriate, evidence-based interventions in providing high quality care. The incumbent will perform assessment of and provide disposition to Veterans who present through other intake portals (e.g., Emergency Department, Urgent Care Clinic, etc.) all of which are points of entry to mental health services. The incumbent will provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counseling when called upon for such services and will work in the Emergency Department or Urgent Care areas as needed.
