Medical and Surgical Specialties Nurse (SN) in the ambulatory care setting is goal oriented and outcome based. The Nursing Process provides the framework for Medical/Surgical Specialties Nursing practice. The (SN) uses evidence-based practice along with clinical expertise and client preferences to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The Medical/Surgical SN formulates nursing diagnoses from pertinent assessment data and assists the Veteran in developing and prioritizing goals. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required.
