The community you’ll be caring for:

• AdventHealth Heart of Florida is a licensed 193-bed acute care hospital, coupled with outpatient services including imaging, rehab, lab and wound care, that has been serving the community for over 50 years.
• As a part of the AdventHealth network patients will have greater access to a wide range of innovative therapies, new research, leading-edge technology and an extensive team of medical specialists.

• Located in Davenport, FL., which is close to major destinations, like Busch Gardens, Legoland, and Walt Disney World, without being located in the central hub of tourism.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Emergency Medical Tech II is to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team within the Emergency Department (ED) using a holistic, caring approach to patient care which supports the mission and vision of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center. Provides direct physical and technically skilled, age appropriate care to patients under the direction of the ED Registered Nurse (RN). Performs other duties related to the work described herein.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Accurately obtain and record TPR, BP, Pain rating, weight and height, intake and output, finger stick blood glucose.                                                      
• Demonstrate efficiency with safety lights, turns and positioning of patients to ensure correct body alignment and maintain skin integrity.                                                             
• Demonstrate efficiency in assisting patients with ADL’s including passing of meals, nourishments and fresh water at bedside.                                                   
• Participates in hourly rounding and answers call light in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates competency in reporting changes in vital signs and patient’s status to appropriate staff.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completed EMT-Paramedic Training at a Technical College (or equivalent training facility)
• Current Licensure or Certification by the State of Florida – Paramedic
• Current BLS & ACLS certification
• PALS certification within 6 months of hire.
