This position is responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching and skill development of the local Medical Center's Whole Health Coach program, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/23/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have 52 weeks at the GS-07. For a GS-07 position you must have 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. An IOR is a basic requirement that must be met in order to qualify for entry into this job series, and it is something that can't be waived: Degree: Successfully completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Four years of appropriate experience: That demonstrates you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. This experience must include one year of specialized experience. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: promotes the use of health coaching approach; publicizes available resources; develops coaching clinics and groups; participants in outreach events; and serves as champion for Whole Health Coaching; promotes healing relationships. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Coaches and support clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources and develops self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle behavior changes and more effectively managing chronic disease, coaches and assist clients to use their insight, personal strengths and resources, goal setting, action steps and accountability toward healthy lifestyle change, conducts interventions for Veterans using one-on-one, couple, or group modalities in outpatient and inpatient settings, develops treatment plans for Veterans focused on behavioral interventions based on current scientific knowledge and research that improve quality of life and reduce risk for chronic disease, or that reverse or slow progression of chronic disease. This experience must have been gained at or above the GS-7 or equivalent level. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. Tracks and supports patient progress using Microsoft office software, VISTA, CPRS, Intranet and Internet as well as other applicable software. Develops information for Veterans about the Whole Health Group and Individual Programs. Conducts outreach activities to inform Veterans and family members of available programs. Participates in leadership roles on local, state and/or national professional organizations specific to health coaching. Participates in the establishment of administrative standards locally; the objective of which is intended to improve programs, facilities and operations. Coordinates and provides recommendations in the application of standards that affect the service. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
