The role you’ll contribute:

The Pre-Admit Technician is responsible for welcoming guests/patients/physicians to the unit as well as direct/indirect patient care. S/he is accountable for performing a variety of clerical/clinical tasks related to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units and coordinating work within the unit as well as with other departments.

The Pre-Admit Tech is responsible for acting as a role model for the mission, and patient promise of Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. S/he is accountable for working within the parameters of regulatory standards, established policies, protocols, and procedures.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Coordinates effectively the maintenance of the physical environment (i.e. maintains supplies work order completion, etc)
• Proactively maintain/ensure that nurses’ station is organized, clean, and de-cluttered.
• Perform various clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing unit
• Answers the telephone in a professional manner; direct calls to appropriate individuals, and relay messages
• Assist RN’s as needed with patient care.
• Schedules surgical patient appointments and procedures.
• Draws blood competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions in logbook.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures, files paperwork.
• Cleans and supplies venipuncture trays.  Maintains work areas.  Orders supplies when needed.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• High school graduate
• Training in the proper procedure in the performance of venipuncture, skin punctures, and the performance of electrocardiogram
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current certification for Medical Assistant; Patient Care Technician or Phlebotomy certification preferred.
