Ventura, California is Seeking a Pediatric Endocrinologist
Ventura County Health Care Agency is seeking a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Pediatric Diagnostic Center (PDC), a combination primary care/specialty clinic that utilizes a team approach. If you are interested in seeing complex (and some non-complex) patients in a collaborative environment that very much has the feel of an academic position without the academic stresses, contact the Center’s Administrator, Sean Lovitt to learn more (sean.lovitt@ventura.org, 805-652-6160, or 520-329-0903).
Pediatric Diagnostic Center History
The PDC was founded in 1989 to ensure that California Central Coast children and adolescents receive the highest-quality care—even for complex conditions—closer to home. PDC is a unique outpatient clinic located on the Ventura County Medical Center campus (Level II trauma center with Level III NICU and PICU) with true clinical collaboration between primary care physicians and specialists, and with hospital-based providers.
Twelve pediatric medical specialties, along with primary care, dentistry, optometry, and mental health, share the same physical space and patients. We serve patients on all insurance plans, but see a high percentage of patients enrolled in Medicaid. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center and a California Children's Services Specialty Care Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes, as well as other conditions.
PDC trains residents from the top-5-ranked Ventura County Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program.
About the Position
This is a primarily outpatient position, seeing patients in a team-based approach. You would be the second (of 2) Pediatric Endocrinologists. Call is home-based, light, rarely requires in-hospital consultations, and is split with the other Endocrinologist; Diabetes call is split with a third physician. Compensation is very competitive.
The patients seen at PDC are frequently complex with concurrent diagnoses and underlying social challenges, but we also see patients who are the children of other physicians throughout the county. The focus of the position will be approximately 50% endocrinology:50% diabetes management. Patients and parents are exceedingly grateful to be seen locally, rather than being forced to commute to Los Angeles or San Francisco.
There are opportunities for affiliation with Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and to explore professional interests beyond pure clinical responsibilities (e.g., research, administration, teaching, etc.)
