 About  EAMC : 
 East Alabama Medical Center ( EAMC ) is a regional referral hospital with a Level 3 Trauma Center and 340-beds located in  Opelika  that serves 11 regional counties.&#xa0; The  EAMC  organization includes  EAMC -Lanier hospital in Valley; between the two hospitals and their collective service lines, there are approximately 3,500 employees in the organization.&#xa0;  EAMC  is Lee County&#8217;s second largest employer, with Auburn University being the first.&#xa0; Among the services that  EAMC  provides are open-heart surgery and cancer treatment, both of which are highly acclaimed specialties at  EAMC .  What you will do in this role: 
 As a driven and change-inspiring Certified Diabetes Educator, you will promote healthy eating habits through individual nutritional assessment, diagnostic therapy, and counseling services, to educate patients and their families with or at risk for diabetes on self-management. &#xa0;Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will perform in-depth motivational interviews to identify prospective and fully-fledge diabetes; develop a treatment program based on evidence-based procedures and regulatory requirements and monitor adherence. You will also train and educate nursing staff; attend meetings, in-service training, and outreach activities; and participate in quality assurance/improvement monitoring and reporting initiatives. 
 To qualify, you must possess: 
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent; Master&#8217;s degree required by 2024 
 A minimum of 2 years&#8217; clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian in an outpatient/community setting; 1-year experience as a CDE preferred 
 Completion of an ACEND accredited/approved Supervised Practice Program in Dietetics 
 Certification with New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN) 
 Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) 
 Board certification for assignments in specialty areas including Nutrition Support, Renal, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology &#8211; preferred 
 Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
 General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software

 Summary of Position 
 The Health Department&#39;s Public Health Bureau is seeking to fill vacant Supervising Public Health Nutritionist for the CalFresh Healthy Living and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Programs. The CalFresh Healthy Living program provides nutrition education and obesity prevention to increase health, reduce obesity, and adopt and maintain healthy eating, activity, and lifestyle choices. The WIC Program provides breastfeeding support, nutrition and health education to families to improve eating and physical activity behaviors and provides electronic benefits for specific foods important for good health. 
 The Supervising Public Health Nutritionist is responsible in supervising paraprofessional and professional staff at multiple worksites. This position provides training and guidance to staff, review and approve educational and program materials, presentations, support budget development, grant request and implementation of State and Federal regulations.&#xa0; The Supervising Public Health Nutritionist will work closely with the Health Program Coordinator/Local Agency WIC Director and Public Health Program Manager to support community coalition efforts, grant reporting, and project evaluation requirements.

 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION 
 Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is desirable for this position.&#xa0; Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates must complete and receive a passing score on the bilingual oral and written exam upon hire in order to receive the bilingual pay stipend. 
 Experience in lactation counseling is desirable, particularly with an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), or Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) designation.&#xa0;
