The Medical & Surgical Unit at Longmont United Hospital is a 36-bed unit split into two 18-bed areas on the same floor. The 5 West area is a medical surgical unit with specialties in oncology and orthopedics. The 5 South section is a medical surgical unit with the same specialties as 5 West, but also has locked doors for the safety of its pediatric patients. Nurses float between the two areas, from shift to shift, giving them the opportunity to experience a wide variety of patient populations and disease processes while working with a supportive and collaborative interdisciplinary team (knee/hip replacement, back surgeries, colectomy, gallbladder, hysterectomy, mastectomy, amputations, appendectomy, COPD, acute/chronic renal disease, GI bleed, cancer with chemotherapy, cellulitis, RSV, bowel obstructions, diabetes, etc.). It is our mission to not only support patients and families through their most difficult times in the hospital, but to also support them on their health journey once they leave the hospital. As a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse at Longmont United Hospital you will asume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: * *Required Experience:** One year experience preferred* Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.* *Required Education:** Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required* Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's* *Required Licensure/Certifications:** RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact, * *Colorado Only:* RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc. Compact to Compact.
