The Cross-functional Pharmacy Technician & Medication Liaison position at Genoa is an essential role that impacts the lives of an underserved population that needs a voice. This onsite position will work as a pharmacy technician in our Genoa mental health specialty pharmacy and as a liaison between a variety partner clinics.
You will supports all functions of the Genoa mental health and specialty pharmacy by providing onsite support in the partner clinic as a liaison between the clinic and a Genoa pharmacy, coordinating prescription services, dispensing medical prescriptions, and performing necessary clerical duties, splitting time between the clinic office and the pharmacy.
This position will work both at our Genoa Pharmacy (176 West Street Suite P, Milford, MA 01757) and our partner Fuller Hospital (200 May St, Attleboro, MA 02703)
Hours:Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:30 (closed for lunch from 12:30-1:00)
Primary Responsibilities:
Communicates with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services Genoa provides
Recruits and enrolls consumers utilizing enrollment forms and copy the consumer’s insurance card
Facilitates the collection of prescriptions to be faxed to the pharmacy for dispensing
Ensures all consumer insurance information is up to date in the Pharmacy system and is properly charged for the medications dispensed
Assists consumers in contacting the pharmacist regarding all their medication questions and ensure a prompt response to their questions
Assists clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as needed
Monitors compliance by contacting the consumer at least monthly to ensure compliance and determine refill needs as applicable
Prescription refill management by utilizing the no refill report and contacting the appropriate prescriber to ensure timely refills are completed and dispensed to the consumer
Medication delivery when needed and appropriate. {Only applicable in states that are allowed.}
Checks for expiration dates (both on consumer’s medications as well as house account products/standing order meds.)
Ensures that medications are stored properly (refrigerated drugs are kept in the refrigerator, pen-tips are not stored on insulin pens, etc.)
Checks for discrepancies (dose changes, discontinued medications, etc.)

Primary Pharmacy Site Responsibilities:
Provides exceptional customer service to all consumers and members of the clinic staff
Fills prescription orders and makes them available for verification under direct supervision of the registered pharmacist
Orders, receives and stores incoming pharmacy supplies
Receives and processes wholesaler medication orders
Verifies medication stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records
Works with the Pharmacist to asset in the pharmacy functions and keeping the pharmacy in compliance with all federal and state requirements
Performs various clerical duties relating to the department
Communicates with strong professional verbal and written communication skills
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED or higher
National Pharmacy Technician Certification
Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician Licensed or Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts
2 plus years of hospital experience or pharmacy technician experience
Valid Driver’s license and insurance
Access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a behavioral or mental health setting
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Bilingual (Spanish) speaking
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to work with a close-knit team and possess solid administrative and organizational skills
Proven ability to learn other software systems
Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented, professional, results oriented with a positive outlook and patient focus
