The Department of Health Informatics Institute at University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a BC/BE Internal Medicine Endocrinologist for full-time, 12-month, faculty position. All candidates must have or be eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical license. The salary for this position is negotiable. Candidates are expected to engage in clinical translational research and thus must have experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials. Clinical research is a critical component of the USF DDEs mission. Qualified candidates must be committed to promotion of clinical trial recruitment and are expected to develop their own portfolio of studies and become successful in obtaining peer reviewed funding to support an active research program. The USF DDE is administratively housed within- and has the support of the USF Health Informatics Institute in the development of research proposals and publication of findings. The USF DDE operates in collaboration with Tampa General Hospital, USFs major teaching hospital, the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. A major facet of the USF DDE is the USF Diabetes Center (USF DC), a state-of-the-art facility for education, clinical care, and clinical research with a large and expanding portfolio of clinical research studies in both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, participation as a Type 1 Diabetes Exchange site, and numerous industry-supported studies. Therefore, candidates with clinical and clinical research foci in diabetes are encouraged.
Qualified candidates are expected to be outstanding clinicians that will contribute to expansion of USF DDE clinical services and clinical research initiatives with a focus on diabetes however, clinical and research activities in general endocrinology will be supported. Expansion of current services includes subspecialty supportive care in ophthalmology, podiatry and rehabilitative medicine, a strong community outreach effort and health care professional training.
Responsibilities include participation in the USF DDE faculty call schedule, consultation at area hospitals, and clinical research activities at partner institutions.
The candidate will work closely with faculty in immunology, genetics, nutrition science, psychology and the extensive diabetes research programs based at USF (TrialNet, TEDDY, TRIGR) to advance the treatment, prevention and cure of diabetes.
