| This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Yes Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 49-54 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 10 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with any number of medical problems (e.g. hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD). He/she is responsible for ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications and other therapies as medically indicated, meeting preventative health maintenance needs, completing all required VA computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings in a timely manner. The incumbent will be located at one of the sites of care within VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Evaluation, including performance of H&P (history and physical); diagnosis; consultation; and treatment of adult patients with medical illnesses performed in the clinic environment with appropriate support and monitoring. In addition, provider can perform routine women's health (pelvic exam, breast exam, cytologic pap smear testing, cervical HPV testing), laceration repair, foreign body removal, abscess incision and drainage, and wound debridement. He/she can care for patients via telemedicine, perform preliminary interpretation of ECG and radiographic studies, and supervise residents, fellows, and others in training. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
