Right now, we are looking for a proactive CDE with strong clinical expertise on diabetes management, to promote diabetes-related literacy that will positively impact a self-care lifestyle through treatment and advocacy, and boost well-being in our culturally diverse population.

What you will do in this role:

As a driven and change-inspiring Certified Diabetes Educator, you will promote healthy eating habits through individual nutritional assessment, diagnostic therapy, and counseling services, to educate patients and their families with or at risk for diabetes on self-management.  Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will perform in-depth motivational interviews to identify prospective and fully-fledge diabetes; develop a treatment program based on evidence-based procedures and regulatory requirements and monitor adherence. You will also train and educate nursing staff; attend meetings, in-service training, and outreach activities; and participate in quality assurance/improvement monitoring and reporting initiatives.

To qualify, you must possess:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent; Master’s degree required by 2024
• A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian in an outpatient/community setting; 1-year experience as a CDE preferred
• Completion of an ACEND accredited/approved Supervised Practice Program in Dietetics
• Certification with New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN)
• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
• Board certification for assignments in specialty areas including Nutrition Support, Renal, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology – preferred
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software
