Full Scope CNM in Busy Birth Center Based Practice
Connecticut Childbirth Center
| The Connecticut Childbirth & Women’s Center is a mature, busy practice established in 1997 to serve the needs of women and their families seeking full scope midwifery care. From fewer than 50 births during our first year to now over 300 births annually, we continue to grow and prosper. Families travel to us from up to 2 hours away to receive our unique care.
Offices are located inside of our beautiful freestanding, CABC accredited birth center. Our low risk women have the option of birthing in the center or directly across the street at our local community teaching hospital, Danbury Hospital, where we maintain privileges. Women who are pregnant and higher risk (diabetes, multiples, hypertension, etc.), will be attended in the hospital setting.
Our full scope care includes both low and high risk obstetrics for our pregnant women as well as gynecology care, family planning/contraception, teen and adolescent care, perimenopause/menopause and so much more. We are fortunate to have access to specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine, oncology, breast surgery, neonatology, radiology, etc. for any needed referrals or consultation. Additionally we are provided with 24/7 obstetric/gynecology backup by compassionate, caring physicians.
Located in Danbury, CT we are Connecticut’s only CABC accredited, freestanding birth center. Danbury is a wonderful suburb of New York City (an hour away by car or train) and within 2.5 hours to Boston. New Haven and Yale University are also within an hour’s drive. The beaches of Rhode Island and Cape Cod are close by and skiing in Vermont is also very accessible. Major airports of New York include LaGuardia and JFK and Bradley International in Hartford, CT are all easy access. Current midwives enjoy the theatre, zoos, hiking the Appalachian Trail, swimming, kayaking, boating, biking, wineries, breweries, dining and touring the northeast.
We are a cohesive group who look out for each and work well together. We come from many different backgrounds and welcome getting to know our new midwife partner. We share office and call and encourage each other to find ways to contribute to the practice. We are seeking a midwife partner to join us as we look forward to many more years of caring for women and each other.
Our new midwife partner should be someone who enjoys true midwifery care. Autonomy and the ability to work independently are important as well as the ability to work well with others. Organization and attention to detail, wonderful interpersonal skills and flexibility are required. As an accredited birth center an ability and desire to maintain accreditation and contribute to the accreditation process are mandatory.

We would prefer a seasoned midwife with at least 2-3 years of experience, and preferably with both in and out of hospital experience. Birth center or home birth experience are pluses for a candidate. We would consider a new graduate midwife with an excellent labor and delivery nursing background. We will review all applying candidates.
Compensation is competitive with salary, bonuses, dental and medical insurance, ability to contribute to a 401K, paid vacation and an annual conference stipend. Our office and call schedule are flexible and geared to a satisfying work/life balance. |
